Our goal is to deliver core content in the true spirit of Emergency Medicine - to anyone, anywhere, anytime. As the official educational site of the NYU / Bellevue Emergency Medicine Residency Program, we have a cadre of residents and attendings fixated on bringing free, quality, and relevant content to all in the field.
The Primary Survey in Trauma
The primary survey in trauma management is a critical initial assessment to identify and address life-threatening conditions. It follows the ABCDE approach: Airway maintenance with cervical spine protection, Breathing and ventilation, Circulation with hemorrhage control, Disability (neurological status), and Exposure/Environmental control. This systematic method ensures prompt identification and immediate treatment of urgent medical issues, enhancing the chances of survival and recovery in trauma patients.

Is that a IV or blood draw
Was there a medical need for this or wax itv just another invasive, risky n painful procedure on a 'consenting volunteer ' vid for youtube?
I’m watching to figure out how not to let my IV bleed everywhere
I think all I&Ds should be performed to this music
How not to apply a pelvic binder
great work!
His acting is so convincing
You didn’t wash your hands 😢
There was a little bit of air in the IV tubing
Very helpful and this seems very simple.. wow 😳😍
What type of tape are they using?! Can it be used in vet med?
Thank you.
Just had my wisdom teeth taken out today. I watched this to see how the IV worked. To anyone soon going to get one, it feels like practically nothing. It’s the smallest little pinch and super faint. It’s over in like 1 second. Hope this helps!! It doesn’t hurt!!
I just would be so nervous injecting someone. What if you miss?
As a health care professional who starts IV's daily, I would suggest learning the how to thread the catheter with one hand. The hand over the needle over is an easy way to get stuck. But these are things you learn with practice, and you don't want the catheter moving around in the patients arm it does not feel good.
Thanks for the video!
I wouldn't be able to do this, just no lol I went to chemo for 20 days in total last year and the IV insertion was always a highlight, the nurses were had expertise and were always super nice, but I still passed out or cringed so hard that my shoulders almost touched the sky. In a couple of occasions they missed the target and it hurt so bad. Also, the bruises that formed later hardened to an incredible degree, my arm and hands suddenly felt very funny, like having PVC pipes for arms and wrists lol It was a bad experience overall but I'm very grateful that it was an option to begin with to help me through the treatment. Kudos to all nurses and doctors for making it possible.
Why do we remove the tourniquet if we’re going to occlude vein privy removing the needle and adhering IV tubing? Also, how do we decide where on the arm to introduce the needle? I’ve seen introductions commence at the back of the hand, in the upper forearm, middle forearm, and antecubital.
This is evolution part accept it

La siriga puntura v del la zanzara ❤❤❤😊 il tatuaggio tatto vero il tatuaggio tatto ³
Chiamamo ľospedale ❤❤❤del prelievo del sangue
You know the reason your index finger is on the catheter when you start is so you can thread the cannula with it instead of your other hand once you have flash. It took me years to stop doing this and it is such a better way to work.
Blessings in an abundance of the faith. I salute you. 😘🙏Grace and peace be unto you and to this place. God bless you. 🤍🌈🤍Thank you. Will you believe and receive Jesus Christ as your LORD and personal saviour??? I do. 😊
Very good and helpful video❤
so much bad humour is going on in one video
This hand didn't feel a thing...🙂
Someone here learning how to do it 😅
Why? In the world, would you need ETOh to start an IV. Etoh It's the stuff you drink not rubbing alcohol. They are 2 very different things. And well maybe nice to have shorthand or abbreviation. This makes it look like you're injecting drinking alcohol into the vein and not cleansing the skin with rubbing alcohol. If you're trying to teach other nurses, this is not the way to do it.
This video is helpful 😊
Short Advice: if you need to practice doing this, it is scientifically proved that thinking on doing it, makes you improve on anything almost as if you were doing it. Try to also practice it on a few persons though, don't rely only on this, just a tip if you are nervous
It helps if the patient is sitting with their back against the wall for some support behind the head.
With medical supplies in almost constant shortages this video and others like it might be the only training some get , very sad .
It freaks me out. I'm terrified of NEEDLES
Thank you!! I need this for 2 days from now! I’m practicing on a banana right now haha.. about to practice on myself as I have great veins. Also, the needles we use are BC so you don’t have to occlude the vein.
Thank you. Listening from Nigeria
I let it heal on it's own took about 6 months
Hello, any advice? I keep loosing the point or needle after the initial insertion. Any advice?
Following , looking for advice on how to keep track of needle point post insertion and finding it once lost
@@nickpicard1986 I usually tell people that if they've lost their tip to stop advancing, do a slight tremor with your needle hand, and search for that bright white tip with your probe hand. If still unable to find your tip, so long as there's no blood return already in your catheter, pull out most of the way (without having to do a full re-stick) and try again
The biggest thing I've found when people are unable to keep track of their tip is to ensure you're advancing your probe at the same time and distance as your needle. If I'm inserting the cannula .5cm forward, I should be advancing my probe .5cm forward.
This is the injury that humbles you 😅
You never close any surgical instrument inside a patient!
So you're dislocated a man's jaw, had him lie in that damn chair, prepared your camera and decided "you know what this video needs? A dramatic entrance "?
Why are we logrolling pelvic fractures in 2024 ridiculous
Very helpful video. Funny too. I😊😊😊
Cheesy! 😋🧀
Wow this was great!!!
Wish all nursing videos were as brief yet informative as this one.
Be sure to tighten the hub on the j-loop to the catheter before putting the tegaderm on - if that hub isn't tightened enough, it could leak (especially during contrast exams)
